Leading Effective Teams

When I think about leading an effective team I look at group dynamics which is forming, storming, norming, performing. I will teach any team I lead about this because it really helps people understand the way successful groups work. In the forming stage, the group is just starting to come together. There is enthusiasm from starting a new project. In this stage I will use my talent strengths woo and positivity to get people excited about this new team. Next is the storming stage. In this stage, group members start to butt heads and really see how everyone works which often leads to conflict. During this stage I will encourage the heart of the group by not holding full power, but sharing it with the team and fostering collaboration. I will effectively do this by using my harmony strength to resolve any conflict and bring the group back on track. In the third stage, norming, the group resolves any conflict and beings to find the most optimal ways to work together. During this stage I will inspire a shared vision because as conflict is resolved everyone's head is clear, so our team will need to look toward the future and see how we can come together with a shared vision. I will talk about what we need to do in the future to achieve our goal, and show the team how to work toward a common goal. My futuristic strength will help the most during this stage. in the fourth stage, preforming, my group will reach is optimal performance and the group will start appreciating everyone differences while using those to work together. This is the most rewarding part of leading a team because you start to see the team come together and bring their differences to make one final product.
